we can't keep up...

It has been about a month now since Oscar became mobile. It has been fun to watch the learning progress... starting with rocking on the knees (6mons), to lunging forward, belly/army crawl (6.5mons), to different variations of the hands and knees crawling (7mons). He becomes more adventurous everyday. At first he would stick to the blanket, then just the immediate area around his toys, then at some point he realized that he could go anywhere and just explore, and now he sees something he wants (usually Maggie or the phone) and he will go after that. His main focus over the last few weeks is to stand. He's mildly interested in his toys, all he really wants to do is crawl over to some piece of furniture and just stand there. He has even started cruising a little (YIKES!). So, as you can imagine, I can't take my eyes off of him for a second! Which has made it hard to do anything else but play with him (and keep him out of trouble)... forget about taking pictures and movies. I need hands free at all times. All this mobility has been very exciting and it has already changed so quickly.

ALL OVER THE PLACE

Last week Oscar and I started "school". It's a one morning a week class at the school down the street from our house (walking distance). ECFE is a program through the St. Paul Public School system. We have some together time and some independent time for us both. It is going to be a nice outing for us during the week and a chance for Oscar (and me) to gain a little bit of independence.

Another first, Oscar slept through the night! Not a peep for 12 hrs! It has happened repeatedly over the last few weeks so we know it wasn't just a fluke. The bedtime routine has been very consistent and maybe that has been the key. I do miss him when he sleeps that long... 12 hours is a long time to be away from him. But I must say it's been nice to get a full night sleep, I can't remember the last time I've been able to do that.

waving

Over the last month or so we have started waving at Oscar from across the room. If we managed to catch his attention he was usually happy and entertained by our gesture. The other day after waking up from a nap I found him standing in his crib. He was in a happy mood and was busy looking around his room... from this new vantage point. I waved good bye as I was about to turn off the camera - and he waved back! I was genuinely surprised and glad I captured it on camera.

Grannie requested a video

It was recently mentioned that I hadn't posted any videos recently.

The wait was worth it -promise.

Flickr Update

Flickr has been updated with August pictures. Enjoy!

ps. we went to see the doctor this morning, because Oscar has been a little under the weather. He is fine, nothing to worry about. But they did weigh him - 18lbs 10oz!! 7 months old today, how time flies?!
