More visitors!

This past weekend Oscar had more visitors come in town to meet him. Aunt Cathy and Lindsey came in from St. Louis. He was happy to show off his skills; kicking, playing, blabbing, smiling, and being a good sleeper. We all took a trip to the Mall of America... Oscar to see the Easter Bunny and the girls to do some shopping and checking out the amusement park. It has been so nice to have the family come to meet our little guy. I think he is really looking forward to our trip to St. Louis to meet all his great grandparents and uncles.

Oscar is now almost 2 months old... and growing bigger everyday. He is quickly out growing his clothes. Most of his 0-3month outfits are too small, 3-6month seems to be a good fit at the moment, and yesterday he was wearing a 6-9month and it wasn't all that big on him! We attempted to weigh him at home this morning and it looks as if he is close to 15lbs. There's no stopping him... he's just going to keep getting bigger.

He's growning up... and out.

Oscar has been sleeping in our room in a bassinet since coming home just over 7 weeks ago. But over the last week or so he had been waking-up with his head pushed up against the top. When he would fully extend his legs he could push himself all the way up... this would make him mad, beside waking him up. So, starting last Saturday night he has been sleeping in his crib, in his own room. He has done great so far... sleeping at least a 5 or 6hr stretch before waking up to nurse and then returning to sleep till around 7 or 8am. We are feeling pretty good about this set up. It does make us a little sad to have him sleeping all the way down the hall, we miss having him right there in the room with us. He has been sleeping on this schedule since week 2 when we gave into his need to sleep on his tummy (I mentioned this frustration in an earlier entry). Matt purchased the Angelcare monitor which has put us at ease, especially with him in the crib now. It's amazing how much has changed in the last 7 weeks... he really is growing and changing so quickly.

The family car

Its official, we own what some would call a "family car". The Madza5 is a mix of mini-van and a hatchback wagon. We've been looking at them for quite sometime and now that Oscar is here we had more of an incentive to get one. We are looking forward to many road trips and camping trips with this car... our first will be a trip to St. Louis over Easter weekend. Maggie likes it too, it's easy for her to get in and out and she has good views out of all the windows!

New Tricks

Oscar is working on more new tricks. He has started to recognize our voices and faces. Lots of smiles and giggles at play time. Not too bad for 7 weeks!

Road Trippin'

Oz took his first trip up to the Zabel cabin in the Northwoods. Its about a 5hour drive from our house in St. Paul. He did great in the car, slept most of the time and happily enjoyed a snack when we stopped for gas. But he was ready to be out of the car by the time we arrived. We were all due for some relaxation and sleep. Oscar enjoyed some quality time with his Nana and Papa... while his parents got to take some naps. Maggie also managed to get in some snuggle time with Oz too.

After our quite weekend up north we headed to Madison, WI. Matt is starting a new job at Visualize
and had his first day orientation at the Madison office (Matt will be working out of the new Minneapolis office). Oscar and I tagged along and got to visit with cousin Michael.

Oscar was a real trooper and seems to be a great traveler! We are already looking forward to more road trips and are even considering flying to St. Louis in a few weeks. He has proven that he is adaptable and a happy guy no matter where he is.

Oz showz off his kicking skillz

Also at the Dr today - Oz showed he's ready to crawl if he can just build up some upper body strength. We'll get him started on a baby-sized bench press right away.

5 Weeks

Oscar is 5 weeks old today.
His "one month" stats:
12lbs 10oz,
22 1/4" long,
15 1/2" head circumference

Our little big guy just keeps getting bigger. Dr. Larkin said he's doing great and is looking very strong. He has been working on making eye contact, funny faces and goos, gurgles and grunts. He also gave me a big smile this week while I was brushing his hair... I think it just felt funny. He is getting to be more and more fun everyday.

My cousin Gina came to visit Oscar this week. They enjoyed getting to know each other. Matt was in Arizona for a conference over the weekend. Some of the family came over for dinner to keep me company Saturday night. Olive, of course, got to hold Oscar and thought that he needed a little lullaby (Claire caught it on video).
Can't wait to see what the next week has in store for us.
